Do it for Stevie

Artist: Stevie Wonder

Album: Talking Book

Release Date: October 28, 1972

Label: Tamla

Spend a week relaxing and soon I’ll be sitting around thinking. It’s one of the reasons I always have a book, or pen and paper with me. Not only am I hella analog I’m also an expert avoider. I don’t know if that’s a real word but it’s a real thing for me. Today, after waking up at 6:20 and stretching like a lazy cat, something inside me spoke and said I needed to pull Talking Book off the shelf. I love my copy of this record. It’s old and worn and perfect. It’s an original pressing so you can still feel the braille lettering of his name and the title on the cover. I recently learned that it also contains a message in braille that reads:  Here is my music. It is all I have to tell you how I feel. Know that your love keeps my love strong. —Stevie

On that note I’m gonna walk into my kitchen and make coffee, unpack, take out the trash and open mail with Talking Book as my soundtrack. Sometimes you gotta open up and let the love that comes your way in. Confront it, think about it, embrace it and let it keep you strong. Even if it makes you uncomfortable. If you can’t do it for yourself, then do it for Stevie. Do-It-For-Stevie!
