Black Women For Wellness: Kitchen Divas

This short video is an example of the some of the great work being realized under the direction of Black Women for Wellness. I’ve wanted to share this for a while but held off because I thought I would have the time to contact BWW directly before hand to get more information. Sadly, I haven’t been able to do that just yet.

I genuinely love this organization. When people ask me why I’m going back to school, or what it is I want to do, I usually keep it on lock because the truth of the matter is I would love to do a combination of what this organization does alongside what I think the HBG can do ( provided we have the resources and staff) as well. You wanna know what I do when I’m in a “meh” kinda mood and need inspiration? I go to the Black Women for Wellness website and click on all the various projects and initiatives and daydream about what it would take to get to that level. I know..it sounds crazy, but it’s true and it makes me happy and proud that something like this exists. That our concerns and ideas can be realized into organizations that engage communities. I don’t know if I’m explaining myself properly. I get like that when I feel good about something. Ha!

I have a secret goal of wanting to find someone locally to partner with, in order to host healthy movements such as Kitchen Divas. It’s partly selfish as I don’t like cooking and lack the basic tools to do it well. But it’s been tough around my way trying to source anyone who has that desire to do something of this caliber in a healthy fashion. I know I can’t be the only one who would be down to get some tips from a diva. I mean c’mon. Year’s ago I was part of a black women’s focus group and we did something fairly similar, so I know it’s not out of the question.

Alright, alright, I’ve rattled on long enough…watch the video and help me brainstorm ways to get the Diva here to do a presentation in Fresno. We each deserve healthy options and a proper jumpstart ain’t never hurt nobody. Mmm Hmm…
